Rik van Terwisga has been Managing Director of NEN since 1 January 2018. He has a broad background and extensive experience as a manager, consultant and supervisor in consulting and in the health care, water and construction industries.
Until the end of 2017 Rik van Terwisga was in charge of the practical processes of the international research and consulting agency ECORYS, focusing on issues in the field of water, energy, climate and the environment. Before that he worked as a consultant/partner in the care industry, and later as director of the business consulting agency Twynstra Gudde. Next, he was appointed as chairman of the board of Vitens, the largest drinking water company in the Netherlands. In addition, he held various positions as supervisor, manager and coach. Currently he is Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Martini Hospital in Groningen.

Rik van Terwisga graduated in 1983 in Civil Engineering (hydraulic engineering and civil business administration) at the Technical University in Delft.
