Over deze norm
This document, for the most part, provides a study of the many factors associated with names and also addresses, their close relatives. These factors fall into various categories: usage, culture, registration, technical. Considerable importance is given these days to names based on Internet Domain Names and their Email extensions. The simplicity and practicality of this form of naming has undoubtly contributed greatly to the expansion of the Internet. Furthermore, many of the issues of registration have been forced into the open. Nevertheless, this approach has its limitations. Internet names suffer from over-crowding in popular corners of the tree; other defects are to close a relationship with INternet objects, and gross limitations in the syntax. X.500 naming provides a richer structure which overcomes some issues, and the tree structure can be attuned to local needs. Internet naming and X.500 names can be intergrated in various ways to extend the usefullness of both.
