This International Standard specifies basic guidance for dealing with discrepancies between dosimeter systems used in parallel, in order to show compliance with established criteria and national regulations. The standard is a support to stakeholders involved in the radiation protection management as a common tool for the management of doses. This standard proposes guidelines to investigate and analyze the discrepancies between the results of personal dosimetry systems, utilizing two or more dosimeters, often one passive dosimeter and one active dosimeter, worn in parallel by the same worker. The first aim of this standard is to identify when the difference between measurements made by personal dosimetry systems used in parallel has to be considered as significant, and hence need to be investigated. The second aim is to provide guidance for the treatment of this difference. In the standard, only the personal dose equivalent, Hp(10), from photon radiation is considered. Exposure to beta particles and neutrons might need to be taken into account when identified discrepancies are investigated. The standard applies to situations where the period of wearing can be integrated to the same period of time for both systems.
