This standard specifies safety and hygiene requirements for the design and manufacture of automatic divers whose function is based on the volumetric principle using one or more suction and/or pressing pistons. These automatic divers are used in the food industry (pastry-making, bakeries, confectionery, etc.) for dividing dough or pastry into portions of a given weight. This standard covers the technical safety requirements for the installation, adjustment, operation, cleaning and maintenance of these machines, as defined in clause 3.12 of EN 292-1 and in the manufacturer's instruction handbook. The hazards covered by the standard are mechanical (crushing, shearing, cutting, drawing-in, impact, puncture, abrasion and loss of stability), electrical, hazards generated by noise and by neglecting ergonomic principles. This standard specifies also hygiene requirements for food processing machinery. It applies only to machines manufactured after the date of issue of the standard.
