Specifies the particular requirements for the fire resistance testing of curtain walls. The test establishes the fire resistance aspects of a curtain wall system and does not deal with its reaction to fire behaviour for which other tests are under consideration. The test differs from the procedure given in EN 1364-1 in that it examines the behaviour of the curtain wall together with the seal, with the floor element and the fixings used to attach the two. Where the performance of the curtain wall alone has to be evaluated the procedure of EN 1364-1 may be used. The performance of the sealing system or fixings on their own may be established by other tests. The test is not intended to be applied to specimens with non-fire resistant glazing or to test over-cladding on external walls. The test can be used on the complete assembly of a curtain wall system or on part assembly, if such information is required for design or regulatory purpose. Clause 4 on "Test principles and requirements" contains further information in this connection.
