This European Standard specifies the ergonomic principles relating to the biomechanical interaction between PPE and the human body. It provides guidance on these for the writers of PPE standards in relation both to the influence of using PPE on the static and dynamic biomechanics of the human body and to its influence on task performance and workload. Care should be taken when applying the principles in this part of prEN 13921 to PPE intended to be used in water or in situations involving unusual accelerative forces. This standard does not cover the biomechanical aspects of the interactions between PPE and the human senses. These are included in prEN 13921-5.
