This standard applies to the design which may contain explosive atmospheres and in which an internal fuel-air explosion may occur. This standard is applicable to explosion pressure resistant and explosion pressure shock resistant equipment. The design may be carried out using any of the methods specified. This standard is valid for atmospheres having pressures ranging from 0,8 bar to 1,1 bar and temperatures ranging from -20 °C to + 60 °C. This standard may also be helpful for the design, construction, testing and marking of equipment intended for use in atmospheres outside the validity range stated above, but in this case, the hazard assessment, additional testing (if necessary), manufacturer's technical documentation and instructions to the user, shall clearly demonstrate and indicate the equipment's suitability for the conditions it may encounter. This standard is limited to equipment and combinations of equipment where deflagration may occur and is not applicable to equipment and combination of equipment where detonation may occur. For wall temperatures governed by the weather or by the vessel charge of less than -10 °C the prEN 13445 shall be consulted for material requirements. The upper temperature limit is defined by prEN 13445 for the material. This standard should not be used for off-shore applications
