This European Standard specifies, dimensions, materials and performance requirements (including methods of test) for in line, hot water supply tempering valves for potable hot water systems, of nominal sizes from DN 15 to DN 50, having working pressures from 0,02 MPa (0,2 bar) to 1,0 MPa (10 bar). Tempering valves reduce the temperature of domestic hot water for distribution throughout the hot water system. The valves are designed for use with hot water up to 90 ?C and cold water of less than 25 ?C, for use in water supply systems in buildings. The valves are typically intended to be used with storage water heaters to provide tempered hot water to the terminal fitting. They are not intended to control the comfort temperature at the point of use. Tempering valves control the distribution temperature from a water heater to a present value or an adjustable range, both between 45 ?C and 65 ?C. The essential characteristics according to the mandate which will be dealt with in this standard will be: a) Dimensional tolerances b) Internal pressure; tightness c) Mechanical strength (Torsional strength, bending strength) d) Resistance to high and low temperatures e) Fitness for contact with drinking water; release of dangerous substances f) Protection against backflow g) Durability against corrosion and mechanical stress h) Noise level i) Effectiveness of the device
