This standard establishes general principles for the construction of piles - which are formed in the ground by boring or other methods of excavation, - which contain a structural member to transfer loads and or limit deformations. The cross section of bored piles covered by this standard can be of - circular shape, - barrette shape if the section is concreted in a single operation. A barrette may be square, rectangular, T- or L-shaped in plan or have any other similar configuration. Piles may be constructed with: - uniform cross-section (straight shaft); - shaft enlargements or - - base enlargements. The provisions of the standard apply to piles with the following dimensions: - shaft diameter between 0,3 and 2,5m, - least dimensions ≥ 0,4 mm for barette-shape piles, - rake no shallower than 4:1, - of base enlargements and cross-sectional area of barrette-shape piles: A ≤ 10 m².
