Identifies specific safety requirements which are significant for food processing machines and which are not contained in other standards or where amplification of other standards is required. This standard specifies methods for the elimination or reduction of these hazards by the safeguarding of machinery and precautions and information necessary to permit the user of the standard to adopt safe working practices. Part 2 sets common hygiene requirements for machinery used in preparing and processing foor for human, and where relevant, animal consumption. It identifies the azards which are relevant to the use of such food processing machinery and describes methods for the elimination or reduction of these hazards, and precautions and information necessary to permit the user to adopt safe hygiene practices. The standard does not repeat descriptions of hazards or safeguards or other material already set out in other standards where they adequatly cover a hazard. The hazards which are not unique or especially significant for food processing machines are listed in the information annex to this standard together with the name of the other standard to which reference should be made.
