This Standard applies to the safety requirements of Piling Equipment used for the construction of foundations or retaining walls, using piles or other longitudinal elements and their removal if necessary. The pile material can be timber, concrete (precast or "cast in situ") or steel (tubes or rolled sections). Additionally they may have an interlocking feature to enable adjacent piles to be joined together. The safety requirements within this standard take account of all hazards during the lifetime of the equipment such as: - transportation - rigging and dismantling - in and out of service - moving between pile positions and - storage. Piling Equipment includes: a) Carrier systems (crawler, wheel or rail mounted, floating) b) Leader attachments c) Leaders or other guiding systems: e.g. Direct mounted, boom supported, swinging, guide cage of free riding. d) Pile installation and extraction equipment: e.g. Impact hammers, extractors, vibrators or static pile pushing/pulling devices. e) Accessories: e.g. piling caps, helmets, plates, followers, clamping devices, pile handling devices, pile guides, acoustic shrouds and shock/vibration absorbing devices, power packs/generators and personnel lift systems.
