Corbion and Kraton receive first European certification for bio-based products

29-11-2016 Yesterday, Corbion and Kraton received the first European certification for their bio-based products – a key differentiator in the bio-based product market. The certification system is based on the European standard EN 16785-1 which enables independent assessment of claims on the bio-based content of products. With certification, suppliers can use bio-based content labelling for their marketing efforts.

Call for tender for the project on Lactobacillus, Enterococcus, Pediococcus, Bacillus and yeast in feed (M/521 project 2)

29-11-2016 As the envisaged project leader for the project of M/523 on probiotics, Mr Bertin with the support of FEFANA members, resigned from the job due to lack of cooperation from probiotics producers, a new call for tender needs to be launched. As there were also new insights on what techniques are appropriate and what the scope of the project should be, CEN/TC 327/WG 3 discussed the project in its meeting of 5 April 2016 in Prague and by correspondence. EC Sante has confirmed the updated project description.

New prerequisite program for storage & distribution

17-10-2016 ISO 22000 sets out specific food safety management system requirements for organizations. One requirement is that organizations shall establish, implement and maintain prerequisite programs (PRP) to assist in controlling food safety hazards. An international stakeholder group has developed a PRP on storage and distribution.

NEN and Hudson Cybertec sign Agreement on Training Platform Cyber Security

07-10-2016 NEN and Hudson Cybertec signed an agreement to commit themselves to improve the cyber security of industrial systems. By bringing together the strengths of both parties, they form a new training platform for cyber security in industrial and technical IT environments. In the near future it will also allow participants to be examined by NEN on their knowledge of cyber security and protection of critical infrastructures.

Annual report 2015

08-08-2016 2015 proved another year in which NEN increased its societal impact. Highlights included the issuing of the new quality and environmental management standards, as well as the new NEN 1010. In collaboration with the Government, NEN also improved accessibility of standards prescribed by legislators. During 2015, NEN introduced various products designed to facilitate the application of standards, including webtools and e-learning modules.

Standard for helmets for fast e-bikes published

08-08-2016 In order to equip users of fast e-bikes (S-EPAC) with a suitable helmet, a NEN-project group has developed NTA 8776 in which the requirements for such a helmet are to be found. NTA 8776 is now available at NEN.

European standard for cleaner-burning diesel fuel from synthesis or hydro-treatment finalised

25-07-2016 NEN is delighted to announce that the European Standard for paraffinic diesel fuel, made from synthesis or hydro-treatment (EN 15940), has received a 100% approval of the CEN members. In nine years this fuel specification evolved from a CEN Workshop Agreement created by a small industry group into a full country consensus document.
