The Eurocodes (EN 1990 – EN 1999) enable the design of building and civil engineering works, and comprises of 10 European Standards in 58 parts. The first generation of EN Eurocodes were the most comprehensive and technically advanced suite of standards for structural and geotechnical design in the world. Their development was a tremendous achievement and represented the culmination of over 30 years collaborative effort. Their impact has been considerable. It has been estimated that they affecting the work of around 500.000 professional engineers across Europe.
The European Commission (EC), Enterprise and Industry Directorate-General has recently granted funding for phase 1 of a detailed standardisation CEN/TC 250 work programme, that will develop the second generation of EN Eurocodes.
The purpose of this procurement is to appoint experts to form the Project Teams for the twenty five tasks in Phase 1 of the CEN/TC 250 Work Programme. Project Teams are expected to comprise of a Leader with up to five members. Appointments will be made on an individual basis. Tender responses must therefore be for individual experts. Tender responses for teams will not be considered.
